On my trip to Montana in November of 2022 I was lucky enough to have a member of the Crow Tribe take me to their mothers home to see some of the horses and other animals they have on their land. The horses have plenty of land to roam, food to eat as well as friends to play with. This horse in particular was laying in the sun lounging just as any house pet would. My guide explained to me that as wild horses become more domesticated and reliant on humans they become more like pets than like their counterparts roaming the hills and mountains.
